The World English Dictionary defines homeless as "having nowhere to live". The San Diego County Office of Education reported that in 2011 there were 13,204 students in the county defined as homeless. The Monarch School, currently located in downtown San Diego provides a safe haven for as many as 200 K-12 homeless children each day. But at nite more than 25% of Monarch's students live in shelters and receive some form of social services. The great majority of the students live in motels, single-room occupancy housing, garages, in cars or on the streets. Monarch School provides a quality education to it's students as well as many other services that are needed to help these children break the cycle of homelessness.
This year Evolve Physical Therapy + Advanced Wellness is going to be parat of a special event. The SoCAl Ragnar Relay: 200 Miles for the Monarch School on April 20-21, 2012 (www.monarchschools.org/ragnar). We have put together a team of 12 runners to complete this race in order to raise money and awareness for the Monarch School. We would feel honored and privileged if you could join our team by donating to this cause. If you are unable to make a financial contribution, your help and support as a volunteer would be greatly appreciated. Together we can make an impact in the lives of these amazing kids.
